MONTOURSVILLE — State police and PennDOT are again teaming up for “Operation Yellow Jacket” during the 2026 construction season.
Officials say the enforcement effort targets speeding and aggressive driving in active highway work zones across north central Pennsylvania.
The program places troopers inside PennDOT vehicles parked in construction zones. State police say troopers watch for speeding, distracted driving, tailgating, and other violations before alerting marked patrol units nearby.
PennDOT says Pennsylvania recorded nearly 1,400 work zone crashes last year, including 12 fatalities. Officials remind drivers that fines are doubled in active work zones and certain violations can trigger a 15-day license suspension.
