SHAMOKIN — The News Item reports two fires remain under investigation in Shamokin. Chief of Police Raymond Siko, who serves as the city’s fire marshal, told the News Item the investigation continues into two recent fires. On April 27th, a blaze broke out at 401 N. Orange Street. Siko said the fire is undetermined but they continue to investigate. On Monday, a three-alarm fire struck the 1000 block of North Franklin Street. About a dozen people were displaced after the fire damaged several neighboring homes. Siko tells the News Item they believe they found the point of origin of the fire but an active investigation continues.
