MILTON — Residents in Milton can now review a proposed school budget that includes a potential tax increase. The Daily Item is reporting, school officials say the district’s $45.6 million budget for 2026–2027 carries a $512,000 deficit.
Administrators say the proposal must be available for public inspection at least 20 days before adoption. Officials say a final discussion and public comment period is scheduled for .
The Daily Item quotes the business administrator Derrek Fink saying the plan could raise taxes about 8 percent in Northumberland County and 1 percent in Union County. Officials say final millage rates would increase if the maximum allowable tax hike is approved.
