SHAMOKIN — In Shamokin, officials are inviting the public to a groundbreaking for the Independence Street Streetscape Project. The ceremony is scheduled Monday, April 20 at 10am at Ninth and Independence streets. City and SEDA-COG leaders say the project will improve safety, accessibility, and the streetscape experience.
Planned upgrades include sidewalks, ADA improvements, lighting, crosswalks, and features supporting local businesses. US congressman Dan Meuser is expected to attend with regional partners. Construction is to begin in late April or early May.
