HARRISBURG — A new proposal aims to protect children from secondhand smoke inside vehicles across Pennsylvania.
Senator Gene Yaw says he plans to introduce legislation banning smoking in cars when young children are present.
Sen. Yaw says the bill would make it a summary offense to smoke in a vehicle with a child age 12 or younger. He says the ban would include cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and electronic smoking devices.
Health officials warn secondhand smoke can cause asthma attacks, infections, and other serious risks for children. He says the measure is a commonsense step to improve child safety. More information is available at SenatorGeneYaw.com.
