MOUNT CARMEL — Three federal lawsuits alleging excessive force by former Mount Carmel police officers have been settled. The Standard Journal reports the cases involve incidents from 2021 and 2022.
The newspaper says plaintiffs Lucas Klingerman, Jason Dillow, and Jonathan Steckley agreed to settle claims against the borough and several officers. Terms of the settlements were not disclosed.
Court records show three former officers previously pleaded guilty to violating civil rights and are now incarcerated. Claims against one officer not charged will be withdrawn as part of the agreements. Officials say other lawsuits against the borough remain pending as the process continues.
