SELINSGROVE — Strong winds across central Pennsylvania knocked out power for some residents as gusts swept through the region Friday and Saturday. Utility crews worked to restore service as conditions improved.
Weather observers say gusts at Penn Valley Airport in Selinsgrove reached 33 to 35 miles per hour during the windy period.
Other nearby locations reported stronger gusts. Observers say Williamsport recorded a 43 mile per hour gust Saturday. Harrisburg saw winds up to 48 miles per hour, while State College reported a peak gust of 46.
Forecasters say winds have now diminished. Sunday is expected to remain cloudy, with rain possible Monday.
