Governor Josh Shapiro visited Danville’s Bason Coffee to discuss the challenges facing small business owners and talk about the importance of investing in Main Streets throughout Pennsylvania.
Governor Josh Shapiro joins DRIVE Industry, the economic development entity for five counties in Central Pennsylvania, to announce a significant investment in Northumberland County to develop a new pad-ready site for businesses who want to expand in the Commonwealth, strengthening the region’s economy.
POINT TOWNSHIP — In Point Township, Northumberland County , Governor Josh Shapiro promoted the state’s $5.7 million investment to prepare DRIVES former Encina site for some other industry. Officials say the project will prepare more than 100 acres to attract new businesses and jobs.
Gov. Shapiro said funding will pay for DRIVE to relocate utility poles, install water infrastructure, and complete grading work to create a pad-ready site.
DRIVE plans to market the property for manufacturing or industrial development. Jennifer Wakeman, Executive Director of DRIVE, says the investment is a game changer. She says ready sites help attract capital investment and create regional prosperity.
Gov. Shapiro later visited Bason Coffee Roasting in Danville. The governor met with the small business owner and discussed investing in Pennsylvania’s Main Streets.
