SUNBURY — In Sunbury, Bloomsburg, and Berwick, the Susquehanna Valley United Way will observe Black Balloon Day .
Organizers say the annual event honors lives lost to overdose and raises awareness about recovery support. United in Recovery volunteers will place black ribbons in downtown Sunbury and Bloomsburg.
Officials say the displays will include information about harm reduction and recovery resources. Susquehanna Valley United Way officials say the event also connects families with Narcan kits and drug testing strips. More information is available at svuw.org.
evening, a community remembrance gathering will take place at 6pm at Sponsler Park in Berwick. Organizers say luminary bags will honor loved ones lost to overdose, followed by a candlelight ceremony at 6:30pm.
