MIDDLEBURG — The Middleburg Area Recreation Association board announced the permanent closure of the community Middleburg swimming pool. Officials say the facility served families and children for more than 50 years.
The board says rising costs for staff wages, chemicals, repairs, and maintenance created a financial deficit. Officials say revenue from the short summer season no longer covers the pool’s operating budget.
Board members say the decision was difficult but necessary. They thanked township and borough partners, local businesses, volunteers, and families for decades of support. The announcement has touched off a flurry of fundraising discussions, so the association says, do stay tuned for updates on those efforts.
