SUNBURY — Northumberland County denies wrongdoing in a lawsuit filed by a Shamokin police officer after a 2024 crash. The Standard-Journal reports Officer Noah Smith sued the county and probation officer Alexis Sciascia following a collision in Coal Township.
Both were responding to a vehicle pursuit when the crash occurred in the 800 block of West Walnut Street. Smith alleges Sciascia was driving at a high rate of speed and too closely. Defense attorneys argue Smith may have contributed and cite government immunity. State police investigated the crash but issued no public report.
