SUNBURY — In Sunbury, accused murderer Denarii Springs will appear for a preliminary hearing at 9:15am inside the Northumberland County Courthouse. The Daily Item reports heavy security is expected for the proceeding before District Judge Rachel Wiest-Benner.
Sunbury Police Chief Brad Slack tells the newspaper; traffic downtown could be delayed. Officers will be stationed inside and outside the courthouse.
The Daily Item reports, lawmen extradited Springs from New Jersey after more than 500 days on the run. Police accuse him of killing 20-year-old Dayveon Creel behind the Weis Markets on Market Street in 2024, and District Attorney Michael O’Donnell says bail is not permitted.
