WILLIAMSPORT — A federal judge rules the trial of a California man charged in the 2023 Geisinger data breach will remain in Pennsylvania. PennLive.com reports U.S. Middle District Judge Matthew Brann denies Max Vance’s request to move the case to California.
Prosecutors allege the 46-year-old accessed data on more than 1.2 million Geisinger patients. The information reportedly included names, birth dates, medical record numbers, and other private details.
PennLive.com reports Brann says Vance failed to show he cannot receive a fair trial in the Middle District. Vance faces additional counts of false statements and remains jailed awaiting trial.
