WASHINGTONVILLE — A major milestone is being celebrated in Washingtonville this weekend as the town marks its 250th anniversary with a community-wide event on Saturday. Organizer Tyler Dombrowski says Washingtonville grew because of its location, “The I-80 interchange of the 19th century was kind of Washingtonville because a number of the roads all converged there.”
Festivities begin at 2:00pm with an open house at Jane E. DeLong Memorial Hall, followed by a ceremony and park dedication at 4:00pm. He says a parade will lead to the unveiling of Mill Park, the town’s newest addition.
Food, games, music, and a special picnic round out the day. Organizers say highlights include performances by the Danville High School Band, a local honor guard, and a raffle for log cabin-themed artwork. More info on Washingtonville’s Facebook page.
