Week #5 Kindness Challenge report submitted to Rachael Ray
Team and USA Today – by Kylie Kuhns, Founder, Kelsey’s Dream
Of all
the weeks during the “Kindness Challenge”, this is the most
exciting update to report. The fundraisers we held this
past week were a volleyball tournament, which raised
$1,000., another Larry’s Pizza night which raised $1,550.,
and a bake sale coordinated by my soccer team, the
Mifflinburg Lightning Cats, that raised $611. We also
received additional donations from local businesses. With
all the activities for the week, I raised over $6,400, in
one week.
The
support of my community, volunteers, supporters, friends and
family have been phenomenal, during the five weeks of my
“Kindness Challenge”. I couldn’t have done this without my
community. At the fundraisers, my family and I are
overwhelmed by the continued support to me and “Kelsey’s
Dream”. To learn more about “Kelsey’s Dream” and what we
have been doing during the “Kindness Challenge”, go to
www.KelseysDream.org.
My
goal during the “Kindness Challenge” was to raise $17,250 to
provide a Chemo Duck to every child diagnosed with cancer,
in the state of Florida. This would complete our quest to
provide a Chemo Duck to every child diagnosed with cancer,
on the East Coast.
It’s
week five of the “Kindness Challenge”, and I raised over
$19,000. I went over my goal, but that doesn’t mean I’m
stopping there. I’m going full force the last week, to raise
as much money as I can, because any additional funds I raise
will go towards providing Chemo Ducks to children diagnosed
with cancer in the Midwestern States.
Additional notes:
Thank you to Heister House Millworks and their employees -
donated $1,000
Thank you to
Kreamer Feed and their employees - donated $1,000
Thank you to Eye
Center Employees - donated $510
Thank you to Keystone Building Products and their employees
– donated $330
Thank you to the students at Mifflinburg Area School
District who held various coin wars, coin drops and Pocket
full of coins:
Mifflinburg Middle School raised - $177.89
Mifflinburg Intermediate School raised - $579.79
Mifflinburg Elementary Schools raised - $1,835.09
That’s a lot of coins and a lot of “Kindness”
Thanks so much for the support! Could not do it without
you!! Next Sunday we will email and post information about
voting for the “Kindness Challenge”. Hope to see everyone
at the benefit concert on Tuesday. Please feel free to
forward this email to all your friends.
